Meet our team at baselang Medellin
Meet our Spanish teachers at Baselang
The goal of Baselang’s native Spanish teachers is to help students become conversational in Spanish, using a unique approach that emphasizes speaking and listening over traditional grammar-based teaching. This method fosters an engaging and interactive learning environment, where students actively practice and use Spanish in daily conversations, allowing them to build the confidence needed to communicate fluently.

Isabel Sandoval
About me:
I'm from Venezuela but I've been living in Medellin for two years now. Though I'm working as Spanish teacher here at Baselang, I'm actually an English teacher, as in 'I teach people how to speak English' kind of english teacher (not the one who made you write a bunch of essays when you were in highschool) which is why I've worked with people of all ages, especially kids and teens. I don't really have hobbies but I like watching series and movies when I have the time. I like listening to music, especially music from the 80s 90s and early 2000s, I don't have a favorite genre but i do prefer dance and indie music. I love cats (I have a cat, her name's Karla, she's gorgeous) food, sleeping and anything that's easy to do. I like to talk, but I also like listening to people talk about their lives, especially if they do something interesting for a living or have fun stories to share.
And that about sums me up, anything else you want to know, we'll talk about it in class. Have fun learning Spanish.

Meet our staff
Reinaldo José Díaz
About me:
Hi! I’m a Spanish teacher with over 10 years of experience, and for the past decade, I’ve been working with Baselang. Even though I’m a journalist by training, teaching Spanish has become my true passion. I’ve dedicated years to preparing myself as a teacher, and I genuinely enjoy helping others learn.
I have a special love for grammar—yes, grammar! I believe it’s not as boring as people think; it just takes the right approach to make it fun and engaging. Outside the classroom, I’m really into rock music, sports, and staying active with regular workouts.
I’m always up for a good conversation and more than happy to help out, so if you see me around, don’t hesitate to come say hi!
Walter Andrés Ocampo Amaya
About me:
My name is Walter, and I'm a passionate advocate for communication, culture, and the magic that happens when we bring language to life. Teaching a language is not just about mastering grammar rules and vocabulary; it's about connecting with people and building bridges between cultures. I believe in creating an immersive and enjoyable learning experience where every class feels like a journey of discovery. I'm a firm believer that real learning happens in the flow of conversation. That's why I encourage the students not only to speak the language but to engage in meaningful dialogues that reflect the richness of human communication. As a language teacher, I strive to create an environment where curiosity thrives, mistakes are embraced as opportunities to learn, and laughter is the soundtrack of our shared journey. Language learning should be an adventure, and I'm excited to embark on this journey with you.
